Regionally Autonomous community TeamS

This website is an introduction to a new project that the Rat Pack of Central Ohio is sponsoring as our community development project for 2009.

Think about the following
What will you do, & where will you turn, WHEN (not IF) a disaster strikes our local community? Are you like most people, counting on the local or federal government to assist you? DO you think that 'someone' will probably be there to assist you & your family? Really?

Today I am challenging you to re-think this! If you are a Husband, or a local businessman, or just a member of the community that cares, then I ask you to realize that as a leader of your family, your friends & loved ones will be looking to YOU for leadership in coming times of trouble!

It is a FACT that in times of disaster, local, state & national governments simply cannot deliver on all those promises they have made. Just look at Katrina in 2005, for example! At best, our governments are inadequate to meet all of our needs, and despite those of out there who think the government 'should' (or worse, actually can?) take care of us, do we really want that sort of socialism in this countrY? (but I digress...)

The fact is this- In times of disaster, both the government & the Red Cross are advising people to be 'PREPARED' & able to be 'SELF-SUFFICIENT' for a minimum of 72 hours after any disaster. That is 3 days!

Are you PREPARED to slug it out without any assistance for at least 3 days? How did you fare in the power outage of summer 2008? What if that happens in the winter? Are you 'PREPARED'? Are you also prepared to respond to the needs of your family, friends & neighbors?

Here is my Challenge To You!

In 2009, lets build a network of local R.A.T.S. teams. Founded originally by members of the Rat Pack of Central Ohio (a local social club), the letters simply stand for Regionally Autonomous Tactical/Team Support. The idea is much more than your local block watch! We intend to create more of a community wide civil defense network, based upon the moral obligation we have toward our local community, to support each other, protect each other, and help wherever the needs are unmet.

While we encourage you to continue supporting our local governments & aid agencys, such as the local Red Cross, we want this network to be stand apart as a genuine grassroots community effort, that seeks to add true value & moral leadership to our community, by encouraging our friends & family to BE PREPARED for disasters, and thus freeing our local governments & aid agencies from the burden of also helping us during times where perhaps, God forbid, that they can barely manage to take care of themselves!

The key theory is this- We can & will be prepared to offer self-sufficiency, community support, and to be a leader in any re-building required within our local community!

Micah said, "Do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God".
If all men heeded those words, I would never have needed to write this letter!

TO my poker pals, I want to remind you that Life is more than just seeing what you can take from your buddy in a poker game or a business deal. To those of us to whom blessings have been given, I remind you that you are a steward of that blessing, and are responsible to share your blessings by giving back to your local community.

A great way to do this is to continue to build up & strengthen our existing community ties, and then invest & train yourself to be ready to defend your family, support your friends, and make a difference! Let's make Central Ohio a place where we all can survive & thrive! It starts at home with family, and continues on with friends, church & neighbors.

At this time, I am asking for LEADERS to step forward and help create & build several neighborhood R.A.T.S. Teams in 2009! Can I count on your support?
